Savannah River Remediation — which includes Bechtel, BWXT Technologies (NYSE: BWXT) and Jacobs (NYSE: J) — will remove and treat waste from tanks on the site and help DOE’s Savannah River Operations Office manage the Tank Closure Cesium Removal system there, Amentum said Wednesday.

The extended contract, which took effect Oct. 1, includes three four-month options and also calls for the consortium to feed waste material into the Saltstone and Defense Waste Processing facilities.

John Vollmer, CEO of Amentum and a 2020 Wash100 Award recipient, said the award reflects “the confidence the DOE has in our leadership and employees who are accomplishing the liquid waste clean-up mission while addressing South Carolina’s #1 environmental risk.”

Amentum and Atkins’ joint venture Washington River Protection Solutions will also extend tank operations support to the Hanford site in Washington state by one year under a potential $725M contract extension from DOE.
