SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – The Chatham County Police Department (CCPD) says crews recovered the body of a missing Georgia Ports Authority worker.

Officials say CCPD officers responded Thursday to a report of a deceased person in the water near 100 Gibbons Road.

Chatham County Marine Patrol recovered the body.

CCPD detectives identified the deceased as 70-year-old Jerome Williams.

Williams was reported missing on Tuesday after he fell into the water at the Georgia Ports Authority.

Crews searched for Williams by air and by boat, with support from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Chatham County Sheriff’s Office and fire and rescue departments from Savannah and Garden City.
