Join the Chase to Fix Leaks

Amy Han

As part of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) ongoing We’re for Water campaign, this year’s Fix a Leak Week—March 14 - 20, 2011—encourages Americans to help put a stop to the more than 1 trillion gallons of water wasted from household leaks each year. Finding and fixing leaks can save the average household more than 10,000 gallons of water annually—enough to fill a back yard swimming pool. Fixture replacement parts can pay for themselves quickly and be installed by do-it-yourself individuals, a trusted professional plumber, or a WaterSense irrigation partner. This year, to kick off the event, WaterSense partner Arizona Municipal Water Users Association is hosting “We’re for Water—Join the Chase,” a four-mile race that will help raise awareness about fixing leaks to save water.
